The Hellenic Society for Neuroscience organised an advocacy event on May 30th, 2018 at the Hellenic Pasteur Institute in Athens, Greece. Representatives form the Ministry of Research and Innovation, the Hellenic Parliament, the General Secretary of Research and Technology (GSRT), the boards of state and private funding agencies as well as the pharmaceutical industry were invited to the event. The event was attended by about 100 stakeholders and members of the neuroscience community. Attendees include the Minister of Development, 3 members of the parliament, representatives of GSRT, funding agencies (both public and private) and representatives of the pharmaceutical industry. The program included the following talks:
  • Introduction-Prof. George Papadimitriou, Emeritus Professor of Psychiatry
  • Societal and Economic Burden of Brain Diseases- Emeritus Prof. Fotini Stylianopoulou
  • Greek Neuroscience Community – Current Scientific Activities – Prof. Spyros Efthimiopoulos and Ass. Prof. Christina Dalla
  • Neuroscience in Greece – Excellence & International
  • Brain Diseases, a Menace for Society 

    1. Neurodegenerative and neurological diseases – Prof. Leonidas Stefanis
    2. Psychiatric diseases and addiction – Assoc. Prof. Katerina Antoniou, President of the National Medicines Organisation
