DESCRIPTION:All abstract presenters must be fully registered and paid participants for the FENS Forum 2024. \n\nDue to the delays in transferring legal matters to the new governing body\, all applicants that are not currently members need to have their HSfN membership application submitted by December 10th 2023!\n\n  \n\nSubmission Guidelines\n\n\n\n\n\nPresentation format: Authors can submit abstracts for poster presentations only.\nAbstract title: The title should not exceed 25 words.\nBody text: Limited to 250 words. We recommend using word-processing software (for example Microsoft Word) for editing your abstract and counting the number of words. Typing your text directly into the field is not recommended. Please be sure not to include extra spaces and symbols\, as these are included in the word count.\nAbstracts should describe:  Aims\, Methods\, Results and Conclusions. They should be submitted in plain paragraph\, without sectioning into headings.\nUse only standard abbreviations. Place special or unusual abbreviations in parentheses after the full word the first time it appears. To avoid problems during submission\, please select special characters behind the $ symbol button or write them fully (e.g. ALPHA)\nGraphs\, figures and images  (only one per abstract) can be added in JPG\, PNG and GIF format by clicking on the Insert Image icon. Word count is not affected when graphs/tables/images are added with the Insert Image icon. DESCRIPTION:TRAVEL AWARDS FOR THE FENS FORUM 2024\n\n\n\n\n\nApply by 7 Dec 2023\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe ALBA Network is offering travel awards for early-career brain science researchers from underrepresented backgrounds to participate in the next edition of the FENS Forum\, taking place on 25-29 June 2024 in Vienna\, Austria. The grants are supported by the American College of Neuropsychopharmacology (ACNP) and the Chica and Heinz Schaller Foundation (CHS). \nWho qualifies as an underrepresented person? \nAn underrepresented minority can be defined as an individual whose percentage of the population in a given group is lower than their percentage of the population in the country. At the ALBA Network\, our definition of an underrepresented person is someone who identifies with one or more of the following: \n\nWomen and LGBTQIA+ individuals\nWith disability\, neurodivergence or chronic medical condition\nOf first generation status (being the first in a family to attend university)\nBorn into racial\, ethnic or caste groups that are historically underrepresented in their country of origin and/or work\nWho do not speak English as their primary language\nLiving in low socio-economic area\nFacing forced migration or displacement due to war\, human rights abuses\, political conflict\, natural disasters\nWith difficult personal circumstances (e.g.\, caregiving responsibilities)\nFrom families with low-income or limited social mobility\nWeak passport holders (according to latest Henley Passport Index)\nStudying or working in a country with low gross domestic expenditure on R&D (GERD) measured against gross domestic product (GDP) and number of researchers per million inhabitants (according to latest UIS statistics)

DESCRIPTION:H Neuroteam διοργανώνει την 3η Πανελλήνια Διημερίδα Νευροανατομίας! \nΠοιοι είμαστε; \nΗ  NeuroTeam είναι μια επιστημονική\, μη κερδοσκοπική ομάδα που δραστηριοποιείται στο πλαίσιο της Τάξης της Νευροανατομίας του Πανεπιστημίου Κρήτης. Οργανώνεται σε    υπο-ομάδες που αναλαμβάνουν τη διεκπεραίωση και οργάνωση ποικίλων επιστημονικών δράσεων\, σχετικές με τις Νευροεπιστήμες και επίκεντρο τη Νευροανατομία. Έχει διοργανώσει μέχρι σήμερα δύο Πανελλήνιες Διημερίδες. Η NeuroTeam ξεκίνησε τη δράση της το 2017 και σήμερα αποτελείται περίπου από 200 άτομα. DESCRIPTION:Neuroscientists hit the road \n\n\nAs part of the Brain Awareness Week 2023\, the Hellenic Society for Neuroscience is organizing a tribute to the brain sciences from February 28th to March 31st\, aiming to present scientific findings about the brain’s function\, perception of the world around us\, decision making\, emotions\, and memory in a comprehensible way to children and adults. \n\n\nThese activities will be held in many different cities and regions in Greece.  Part of these activities will take place in Athens\, Efxeinoupoli\, Almyros\, and Kyparissia (attached posters)\, and will include\, depending on the age group\, painting\, construction as well as video projection of experimental approaches in neuroscience and participation in experiments. A group of neuroscientists will present to students\, through educational workshops\, the basic principles of brain function and discuss the biology of emotions\, sleep\, perception\, memory\, and learning. \n\n\nThe first event in the context of these actions will take place on Saturday\, March 4\, 2023 at 18.00\, in the “Mikis Theodorakis” Park. In this event\, the Hellenic Society for Neuroscience together with the Athener Schule school\, under the auspices of the Municipality of Vrilissia\, will organize a series of lectures by neuroscientists on brain development\, memory\, and Alzheimer’s disease. These lectures will be open to the general public and aimed toward a lay audience.
