CALL FOR EXPRESSION OF INTEREST FOR EARLY-STAGE RESEARCHERS
The Hellenic Pasteur Institute (HPI) invites expressions of interest for Researchers in the fields of Microbiology, Immunology and Neurobiology. We are seeking highly motivated and skilled early-stage researchers to join our Institute in the fields of:
a) Parasitology. Interested scientists should have a solid background in the study of intracellular parasites and parasitic diseases and should demonstrate the ability to conduct independent research and possess expertise in areas related to parasites of major public health importance. This includes, but is not limited to, parasite biology, mechanisms of intracellular survival, molecular epidemiology, host-parasite interactions and signaling, parasite immunology, as well as translational applications such as diagnostics, drug development, treatment strategies, and vaccine development. Experience in high-throughput technologies and omics-based approaches (e.g., genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, or metabolomics) would be desired.
b) Molecular Virology. Interested scientists should have proven ability to conduct research in advancing the molecular understanding of human viruses and have a strong background in focus areas, such as human viral pathogenesis, mechanisms of virus-host interactions, viral translation and replication, viral spread mechanisms, cellular and immunometabolic signaling, antiviral treatments, as well as, translational applications. Additional expertise in (but not limited to): in silico bioinformatics analysis, advanced cell co – culture models, transcriptomics, and nanoparticle tracking analysis will be an important advantage.
c) Immunology. Interested scientists should have a strong scientific background and research interests in the area of homeostasis and tolerance, which encompasses any of the following: inflammation, autoimmune disease, cellular and molecular tolerance mechanisms, immune checkpoints and inhibitors, immunotherapy, regulatory T cells, immune-CNS interactions, enteric immunity, effects of viruses on immune cell responses and natural mechanisms used by immune privileged sites such as brain and testes. Experience with state-of-the-art technologies, including (but not limited to): gene editing in animals and human cells (e.g., CRISPR/Cas9, temporal and spatial gene targeting), genetic engineering/biotechnology, monoclonal antibody and autoantibody production, flow cytometry, advanced bioimaging, animal models of human immune-mediated diseases, high throughput bioinformatics and omics-based approaches and/or single cell and spatial transcriptomics, would be desired.
d) Neurobiology. Interested scientists should have a strong scientific background and research interests in areas such as: brain development and plasticity, brain-environment interactions
and/or inter-organ communication, brain metabolism and its role in health and disease and/or neurodegenerative, neurological, autoimmune neurological disorders. Experience with state-of the-art technologies, including (but not limited to): gene editing (e.g., CRISPR/Cas9), in vivo and functional imaging, electrophysiology (single-cell and whole-cell patch-clamp) and calcium imaging, brain organoid and iPSC-based models, transgenic animal models of neurological diseases and/or high throughput and spatial omics-based approaches is highly desirable.Interested scientists are invited to send a motivation letter accompanied by a short CV (both in English) to prosopiko@pasteur.gr by September 10th, 2025. This call for expression of interest does not constitute an announcement for researcher positions. HPI reserves the right to modify, postpone or cancel the procedure, without prior notice and without any obligation towards the interested scientists who have expressed their interest.
